ASTM D2500

ASTM D2500 is a standard test method used to determine the cloud point of petroleum products.

It measures the temperature at which wax crystals first become visible in a cooling liquid, causing the sample to appear cloudy. The cloud point indicates the lowest temperature at which a fuel or oil can be used without wax precipitation, which may lead to filter plugging or flow issues.

ASTM D2500 is commonly applied to diesel fuels, heating oils, and lubricating oils and is especially important for evaluating low-temperature performance in cold climates.
