The ASTM - D2170 is the Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Asphalts (Bitumens).

This test method covers procedures for the determination of kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalts (bitumens), road oils and distillation residues of liquid asphalts (bitumens) all at 60°C (140°F) and of asphalt cements at 135°C (275°F) (Note 1) in the range from 6 to 100 000 mm2/s (cSt).

Results of this test method can be used to calculate viscosity when the density of the test material at the test temperature is known or can be determined.

The TV2000 ASTM D2170 bath is specifically designed to be used for the determination of kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalts (bitumens), road oils and distillation residues of liquid asphalts (bitumens) all at 60°C (140°F) and of asphalt cements at 135°C (275°F).

The Tamson TV2000 can be used for viscosity determinations at these temperatures. The TV2000 offers three positions for Cannon Fenske Opaque, Zeitfuchs Cross Arm or BS/IP/RF viscometers. The bath is completely conform ASTM D2170 and EN/ISO 12595.
