In this test method, 300 mL of biodiesel (B100) is stored at 4.5 ± 0.5°C (40 ± 1°F) for 16 hours, allowed to warm to 25 ± 1°C (77 ± 2°F), and vacuum filtered through a single 0.7 _m glass fiber filter at controlled vacuum levels of ~70–85 kPa (21–25 in. of Hg). TLB50 bath (please see also TLB50 specification sheet) is specially designed to condition the biodiesel samples in 500 mL jars at 4.5°C for sixteen hours. TLB50 bath can be used to maintain the samples at +25°C after the cold soak test.

Filtration kit D7501 consists of 0.7 micron filters, glass filter funnel and clamp, filter forceps, one litre safety flask, one litre receiving flask, 500 ml graduated cylinder, petri dishes, watch glasses, glass piece with earth lead, stopper with hole, stopwatch, and tubing.
The TLB50 cold soak bath is a specially designed benchtop unit with programmable digital temperature control suitable for cooling and heating samples in accordance with IP PM EA, CEN N 403, ASTM D7501, and CGSB 3.0 No. 142.
The used cooling system is ozone friendly and doesn’t contain any CFK/HCFK gas.
The fluid temperature is regulated through an electronic controlled heater and leaving the cooling compressor running continuously. The cooling power is maximized for rapid cooling down of the bath. When the set point temperature is reached cooling power is strongly reduced and it is saving significant energy. In comparison to other standard instruments the TLB50 can save up to 600 Watt of electric energy. Above 40°C cooling is switched-off automatically to save energy.
The temperature readout readout is in two decimals and can be switched between °C or °F via the menu.
The bath with stirrer (P/N 00T0071, 00T0072 and 00T0073) uses a vain to stir the bath liquid. A special baffle plate ensures maximum homogeneity. TLB50 with pump (P/N 00T0071, 00T0072, 00T0073) provides circulation in the bath or via an external circuit. The pump offers 7 litres per minute. Maximum pressure is 300 mBar.
