Summary of the test method
A polished copper strip is immersed in approximately 100 mL of the sample and exposed at a temperature of 37.8 °C (100 °F) for one hour in a cylinder of suitable working pressure inside a copper corrosion bath. At the end of this period, the copper strip is removed and rated as one of the four classifications of the ASTM copper strip corrosion standard.

All essential parts of the LPG copper corrosion bath are made from stainless steel. The LPG copper corrosion bath has a standard drain to empty the bath content. All the required accessories and consumables for ASTM D1838, ISO 6251, and IP411 tests are supplied by Tamson.
