ASTM D4870 TC16 115V-60Hz

ASTM D4870 is a test for total sediment in residual fluids. Tamson supplies a bath with accessories for thermal and chemical ageing of the sample as described in the Annex of the test method. A weighed quantity (10 g) of the oil sample is filtered through the prescribed apparatus at 100°C. After solvent washing and drying the total sediment on the filter medium is weighed. The test is to be carried out in duplicate.

A weighed quantity (10 g) of the oil sample is filtered through the prescribed apparatus at 100°C. After solvent washing and drying the total sediment on the filter medium is weighed. The test is to be carried out in duplicate. A selection can be made between two ageing baths TC16 and TC40. The TC16 offers six holes for air wells. The cover of the TC40 offers fifteen holes for air wells. Tamson supplies a complete a complete package for this test like the air wells, conical flasks, condensers and stoppers can be bought from Tamson as well. Tamson bath/circulator TC16 and TC40 have a temperature range which can be set from ambient up to 250°C. Temperature stability is better than +/- 0.02 K. Bath inside is made from stainless steel. Both baths can be used for precise temperature control and offer high reliability for use under rough circumstances. The insulation of the bath and electronic design result in a stable working temperature of ± 0.02°C. The set point temperature can be set in steps of 0.1°C in the range of 0°C up to 250°C (32°F..482°F). The accuracy on the display is displayed in 0.1°C. However the controller has an internal accuracy of 0.01°C. This two decimal-readout also is available from the RS232 and the free Tamcom software. The temperature reading atandard is available in °C, on request in °F. These baths can be operated from ambient up to 250°C (41°F..482°F). Due to the "self-heating" of the stirring mechanism and when using a top lid, the minimum temperature lies approximately 5°C above the ambient temperature. When using the standard built-in cooling coil the minimum operating temperature lies approximately ±5°C above the temperature of the cooling liquid circulating inside the cooling coil. Minimum working temperature when using external cooling lies around 10°C. Lower temperatures generate problems with built up of condensate in the inner insulation of the bath. The bath conforms to CE regulation. It is further equipped with a mechanical resettable safety thermostat and a drain to empty the bath.
